Prepare for a checkout with clear records and a realistic distinction between cleanliness, condition and repair.

Before the appointment
Read the check-in inventory and confirm the checkout timing. Complete removals and the agreed cleaning first where possible. Keep records of reported maintenance so existing issues are not confused with the cleaning outcome.
GUIDE
What the comparison involves
A checkout commonly records the condition and cleanliness of rooms, fittings and supplied items against the starting record. Take specific photographs and note any disagreement clearly. A cleaning invoice can document purchased work but does not by itself prove the condition of every surface.

GUIDE
After the inspection
Request the report through the agreed process and review observations against your evidence. Keep responses factual and specific. If a proposed deposit deduction remains disputed, check the guidance and process of the scheme protecting the deposit.
